About Us

The Journey of Bangladesh Youth Society (BYS)

Bangladesh Youth Society (BYS) was founded in July 2014 by Faez Belal, then a Higher Secondary student from Barishal, a coastal region of Bangladesh prone to cyclones, river erosion, and floods. Recognizing the vulnerability of girls and youth and the absence of a dedicated youth platform, Faez established BYS to empower young people for positive change. Initially focused on training youth on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), BYS later aligned its efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing Gender Equality, Quality Education, Climate Action, and Peace. Over the past decade, BYS has supported 1.3 million participants through 28 impactful projects. In 2018, it launched BYS Venture, a social business empowering girls from coastal areas. BYS’s achievements have earned prestigious awards, including the Diana Award (2022) and the Global Entrepreneur Award (2020).
